Southern Medical Services (SMS) is a medical equipment repair company dedicated to providing prompt, reliable service to the San Antonio and south Texas medical, laboratory and research facilities. SMS repairs a wide variety of hospital and laboratory equipment as well as performs electrical leakage safety inspections and preventive maintenance. We are seeking a Bio-Medical Equipment Repair Technician to join our team!
Bio-Medical Equipment Repair Technician
Responsibilities:
· Provide service to customers by performing medical equipment preventive maintenance, testing and repairs
· Provide service estimate information to Project Coordinator from on-site evaluations
· Determine on each and every job, the qualifications to perform assigned work and ask for technical support from within Southern Medical Services or outside support
· Determine and make available all parts, tools and equipment to perform all assigned daily work prior to leaving office
· Order parts from appropriate vendors and schedule them to arrive in a timely manner
· Document assigned jobs and their progress through to completion; reporting to Projects Coordinator information pertinent to specific jobs as to any problems to be overcome or issues to prevent completion
· Complete jobs in a timely manner observing manufacturer safety precautions and obtain verification of satisfaction of work performed by authorized persons, prior to closing job documentation
· Attend weekly and monthly company meetings to facilitate communications; attend trainings to update knowledge of new products to fulfill manufacturer requirements for servicing and testing of equipment
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have an Associate’s degree in Bio-Medical Equipment Repair or equivalent military service training from bio-medical equipment repair school. Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills coupled with logistical skills to expedite working with vendors, the Projects Coordinator and a diverse array of customers, environments, equipment types and locations required. The ability to be available for on-call duty for emergency service 2 nights per week essential. Familiarity with JCAHO and computer proficiency in a variety of equipment management programs is a must! Analytical and planning skills including testing summarization, estimating, documentation of costs and developing preventive maintenance schedules essential. Excel, Access and Internet capability is a plus for research/assisting clients.
