About CUSO-VSO

Each year, we send hundreds of global citizens to work on collaborative development projects in more than 40 countries in Africa, Asia, the Pacific, Latin America, the Caribbean and Eastern Europe. We are one of North America’s largest international development organizations that works through volunteers.

CUSO-VSO volunteers work at the crossroads between hope and hardship. We place volunteers of all ages who have the professional skills and sensitivity needed to help people in some of the world’s most disadvantaged countries help themselves.

Contributing to a world of solutions

Our volunteers work on long-term, effective development projects in six key goal areas.

CUSO-VSO supports solutions in:

• education – improving quality of and access to education, especially for girls

• HIV and AIDS – prevention, care and support

• disability – promoting independence and increasing opportunities

• health – delivering services and addressing underlying problems, like sanitation and water supply

• secure livelihoods – providing new, sustainable income opportunities

• participation and governance – promoting peace and individual rights.
